John Hall Thomas
John
Hall Thomas is a 1984 graduate of Tulane Law School who has won more than
40 criminal jury trials. He practices in state and federal courts throughout
Louisiana. Among his most important cases in the past 20 years were the
following:
State of Louisiana
v. Kurt Dixon
John Hall Thomas won a first degree murder (death penalty) trial for Mr.
Dixon who was identified by two 'eyewitnesses’ as the perpetrator
in a New Orleans murder.
State of Louisiana v. Robert
Harrison
Together with co-counsel Sonny Armond, John Hall Thomas won a “not
guilty” verdict in the self-defense case of a New Orleans man charged
with first degree murder in the shooting death of his own son.

MayBerry
John Hall Thomas won not guilty verdicts for Mr. MayBerry in 3 separate
jury trials on charges of murder, 5 counts of armed robbery, aggravated
kidnapping, and possession with intent of distribution cocaine.

v. Davon Jackson
John Hall Thomas successfully defended Mr. Jackson who was charged with
a murder in a New Orleans grocery store. Ironically Mr. Jackson was found
not guilty but the New Orleans police officer who investigated the case,
Len Davis is on death row following his federal conviction for a related
murder. John’s sister, Kathleen, was selected by National Law Journal
as one of the America’s top 10 female trial attorneys for her work
on this and other cases.

In one of his most highly publicized cases John appears on the Montel Williams program in 2000 with his client Rebecca Martin. Ms. Martin was arrested in 1999 in Texas 22 years after her escape from the Louisiana Women’s Prison at St. Gabriel. John succeeded in having her felony escape charge reduced to a misdemeanor and she was released shortly thereafter with credit for timed served.
